Some Glimmer amongst Private Sector Jobs Gloom

Three well known companies in the private sector – Debenhams, BUPA and Travelodge – have announced plans to create new jobs.

Debenhams said it would open 8 new stores creating 1,200 new jobs by 2011. BUPA announced it is taking on 800 new staff to work in its nursing homes. In addition to nursing and care roles, there will also be jobs for cooks, housekeepers and maintenance staff. And Travelodge, the budget hotel chain, said it is planning to build 12 new hotels this year which should create 200 new jobs.
