Just One in Five Expecting to Retire by 65

According to a survey conducted for Barings Asset Management, only one in five people questioned expect to be able to retire by the age of 65.

The figure has halved over the past year.  And when it comes to early retirement the number of people expecting to retire between the ages of 50-55 has dropped from 8 per cent last year to 6 per cent this year.

The combined findings from surveys of just over 4,700 adults found that fewer than half (47 per cent) now expect to retire before the age of 70.  This has fallen from 93 per cent last year.
