New Information Resource for Mature Students

A new resource has been launched for mature students, which for the first time brings together the offerings of every university and higher education institute in England for adult first-time entrants (AFTEs).

It aims to help potential mature students by providing them with all the information they need in one place, thereby enabling them to make a more informed choice, as well as providing details of the application process once their decision is made and information relating to the benefits of Higher Education for mature students.

Commenting at its launch, David Lammy, the Higher Education Minister said:

“It’s always been important to have the right information, advice and guidance when making big decisions about our lives, but ensuring that adults can make informed choices about their next career move or further study is even more important in these challenging economic times.

“That’s why we’ve launched this new website dedicated to mature students, which is full of helpful tips for those people looking to re-train, get a new job or take on a new challenge.”

The website www.thestudentroom.co.uk/maturestudents includes an interactive map, so potential students can see at-a-glance what the offerings are in a particular area. It also contains video case studies of current and past mature students and forum and discussion areas to share experiences and thoughts.
