Inquiry into Intergenerational Fairness and Employment

The Intergenerational Futures All Party Parliamentary Group (IGF APPG) is conducting an inquiry which is looking at some fundamental issues concerning intergenerational fairness and employment.  Some of these issues would arise even in benign economic conditions, but the inquiry is also considering the immediate impact of the recession on intergenerational fairness and employment policy and practice.   It is seeking to identify the most important and urgent problems in this policy area as well as reasonable remedies that could be introduced to tackle them. 

The “call for evidence” circulated in early May describes in more detail the issues which are being considered by the inquiry team.  As it explains, the Group is holding a limited number of inquiry meetings in June, July (see the pdf of the minutes of these meetings) and October and obtaining additional written evidence with a view to launching its report before Christmas 2009. 

 The Intergenerational Futures All Party Parliamentary Group’s purpose is to enable members of Parliament to understand better policy and practice in innovative intergenerational relationships, reflecting diverse family and societal structures.  Baroness Greengross chairs the Group and her fellow Officers are: Tim Boswell MP, John Leech MP and Dr Hywel Francis MP.  It has Parliamentary and non-Parliamentary members, including representatives of a wide range of organisations with an interest
