The Older Workforce: Findings from three research studies

A report on ageing, work-related stress and health was launched at thes seminar.  The literature review by Professor Amanda Griffiths of the Institute of Work, Health & Organisations at the University of Nottingham was jointly commissioned by TAEN and Help the Aged.  

Helen Barnes (Institute for Employment Studies) and Debbie Smeaton (Policy Studies Institute) presented their recent research, funded by the Nuffield Foundation, exploring employers’ policies, practices and perspectives on managing older workers.

Professor Jeremy Myerson, Helen Hamlyn Professor of Design at the Royal College of Art, explored the concept of the welcoming workplace and discussed how office space should be designed for older workers in the 21st century knowledge economy.

The seminar was held at the Institute of Material, Minerals and Mining, 1 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5DB on 21 October 2009 (14:00 – 17:00).
