The plight of younger workers in the current recession is of great importance to the public. The Government has responded to this with a range of policy interventions. However, with public attention focused on young people, the time is right to expand the debate and talk about what can be done to mitigate the impact of unemployment on other age-groups.

The purpose of this half-day conference was to raise the profile of rising unemployment among older workers and those over 25 more generally. It explored what policy can do to help older workers in the wake of the recession.
